On Saturday, January 14, 2020, Shaviringa United secured a crucial win in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) National Division two, Western region Zone A league.
The match, played at Friends College Kaimosi in Vihiga County, saw Shaviringa United forward Peter Majanga capitalize on a goalmouth melee to score the solitary goal in the 88th minute.
The FKF Western Branch Secretary, Kelvin Mwangu, attended the match and praised both teams for their efforts.
"I would like to encourage football scouts from the Kenyan Premier League to come down to the grassroots where the players are," Mwangu told Nation Sport after the match.
Other matches in the region saw Busia Olympic defeat Kipsis Arrows 2-0 at Busia Stadium, Kimilili United defeat Kabula United 2-0 at Amtala Ground in Bungoma County, and Luanda Villa United stop Mihuu United 2-0 in an encounter played at Mihuu Primary School ground.
