Communication is Key

Effective communication is crucial in any relationship, but it's especially important in long-distance relationships. When you're apart, communication helps you feel loved and present, even with the distance.

Trust Each Other

Trust is the foundation of any successful relationship. In a long-distance relationship, trust is what keeps the bond strong. Be open and honest with each other, and learn to understand and accept each other's feelings.

Make Time Together a Priority

When your partner visits, make sure to prioritize them. There's nothing worse than traveling to see your partner only to find that they're unavailable. Make visiting your partner a priority and try to visit as much as possible, because face-to-face interaction is essential in a long-distance relationship.

Support Each Other

Be genuinely happy for your partner when something goes right for them. Encourage them to try new things, and learn to be okay with the fact that they're successful even without you around.

Avoid Being Petty and Judgmental

Being negative with your partner when you feel down can breed more negativity in the relationship. Learn to understand and accept any discomfort and find neutral or positive ways to handle it.

Don't Hold Onto Anger and Resentment

When you feel bad about something your partner does or says, share it and let it go. Holding onto it will fester and breed discontent in your relationship.

Have Faith

Don't give up because you're afraid it won't work out. Each experience is different, and just because someone else's long-distance relationship didn't work, doesn't mean yours is doomed to fail.
