On January 14, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta announced a major cabinet reshuffle in his State of Nation address at State House, Mombasa.

Outgoing Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries & Cooperatives Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri was the major casualty of the shake-up, being dropped from the cabinet.

Peter Munya, who was previously at the Trade and Industrialisation Ministry, took over Kiunjuri's former docket.

Other notable changes included Monica Juma swapping offices with Rachel Omamo, who had been in charge of the Defence Ministry, and Sicily Kariuki moving to the Ministry of Water & Sanitation and Irrigation.

Ukur Yatani fully assumed the National Treasury Ministry, while Simon Chelugui moved to the Ministry of Labour & Social Services.
