On Tuesday morning, residents of Pangani in Nairobi raised the alarm after spotting an unidentified man walking tall with magazine pouches on his chest.
According to Nairobi Police Commander Philip Ndolo, the man was an Administration Police officer who was on duty at the time.
‘He is our officer who was crossing over to Muthaiga where the police vehicle was, to join his colleagues’, Ndolo said.
Residents had feared the man might cause mayhem in the densely populated neighbourhood, with one resident, Allan Maticha, saying he was scared because the man appeared suspicious and was walking really fast.
Another resident, Beatrice Mwihaki, said the sight of the man caused great panic, describing him as wearing dark sunglasses and being hard to identify.
Police quickly responded to the residents' alert and arrested the man.
