January 7, 2020, marked the start of the Africa Qualifying Sub-Zonal 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games Qualifier in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The tournament was a crucial step for Kenya's women's beach volleyball team, led by coach Sammy Mulinge, as they aimed to secure a spot in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Speaking from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Mulinge emphasized that his team would not rest until they had secured the necessary exposure to qualify for the Olympics. With a new generation of players on the rise, Mulinge was optimistic about Kenya's chances of making it to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
