January 7, 2020, marked the start of the Africa Qualifying Sub-Zonal 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games Qualifier in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The tournament was a crucial step for Kenya's women's beach volleyball team, led by coach Sammy Mulinge, as they aimed to secure a spot in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Coach Mulinge expressed confidence in his team, highlighting the potential of players like Yvonne Wavinya, Brackcides Agala, Gaudencia Makokha, and captain Phosca Kasisi.
