On January 11, 2019, Kabras Sugar defeated Nakuru RFC 38-0 in a Kenya Cup League match at the Nakuru Athletics club, a game that saw Kabras Sugar's chairman Philip Jalang'o confirm their interest in signing Nakuru RFC's Walter Okoth.
According to Jalang'o, Kabras Sugar had tabled Sh 50,000 for the acquisition of Okoth, citing that he was not contracted as per Kenya Rugby Union regulations.
"At the end of the day, we'll have him playing for us in our next match," Jalang'o told Standard Sports in a post-match interview.
Kabras Sugar hosts Kenya Harlequins in Kakamega on Saturday.
