On Tuesday, January 14, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta delivered his state address to the nation in Mombasa, where he announced a major reshuffle of his Cabinet.
Among the changes, Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture Mwangi Kiunjuri was locked out, while Peter Munya, who was previously in charge of Trade, took over the Agriculture docket.
Other notable changes include Sicily Kariuki moving to the Ministry of Water and Sanitation, and former Nyeri Senator Mutahi Kagwe being nominated for the position of Cabinet Secretary for Health.
Ukur Yattani, who had been serving in the Treasury docket in an acting capacity, was confirmed as Cabinet Secretary for Treasury.
Additionally, Raychelle Omamo was moved to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while Monica Juma took over as the new Cabinet Secretary for Defense.
President Kenyatta also reassigned Solomon Chelughui to the Ministry of Labour.
