On January 14, 2020, a man's life ended in a tragic and violent manner in Nyamira County.

Richard Achoki, a notorious impostor, had a history of terrorizing residents in the area, and his latest attempt to extort money from a public service vehicle ended in his death.

According to Manga Police Station Commander Nelson Cheruiyot, Achoki and his accomplices had stopped a matatu at Nyabioto area along the Nyamira-Kisii route at around 5:45am and demanded Sh3, 500 from the conductor.

However, one of the passengers identified them as impostors, and the commotion in the vehicle alerted members of the public, who positively identified Achoki as a member of a criminal gang.

As a result, Achoki was lynched by the angry mob at Nyabioto area.

Interestingly, this was not the first time Achoki had narrowly escaped death. In a previous incident, he was set ablaze by members of the public for allegedly stealing, but he was saved by Administration Police officers.

After recovering, Achoki was set free from the cells, but he continued with his criminal acts, which ultimately led to his death.

The remains of Achoki were taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary, and police are still hunting for the three suspects who managed to escape.
