On January 13, 2020, South Africa's World Cup-winning captain Siya Kolisi was voted the 2019 Rugby Union Writers' Club personality of the year.
According to a poll of the Rugby Union Writers' Club's 200-plus members, Kolisi took the prize ahead of their annual dinner in London.
At just 28 years old, Kolisi has already made a significant impact on the rugby world, leading South Africa to World Cup glory in 2019, when England was crushed in the final in Japan.
Appointed as the Springboks' first black Test captain in 2018, Kolisi has since presided over a series victory against England and Rugby Championship glory, as well as leading South Africa to their third World Cup.
He follows in the footsteps of previous greats to have been acclaimed by the Rugby Union Writers' Club, including Gareth Edwards, Jonah Lomu, Martin Johnson, Lawrence Dallaglio, Jonny Wilkinson, and Dan Carter.
