On November 12, 2020, Peter Wekesa allegedly stole Tecno Spark2, Con 11, and Phantom phones belonging to Angelina Wavinya, Mary Akeyo, and Rosemary Njuguna from a beauty and massage parlor in Dubai Mall along Ronald Ngala Street in Nairobi's CBD.

According to court papers, Wekesa checked into the parlor and requested a pedicure, then excused himself to answer a call of nature, during which time he picked the phones and vanished.

The victims reported the theft to the police, and after a while, Wekesa was spotted in the area, prompting the ladies to make a citizen's arrest.

Wekesa later confessed to the crime, stating that the phones were 'carelessly kept, tempting me to steal.' He also admitted to stealing sandals from the beauty shop, leaving behind his own shoes.

The court directed that a probation report be made to help determine an appropriate sentence for the first-time offender.
