On January 14, 2020, Kirinyaga County Governor Anne Waiguru offered unsolicited advice to exiled lawyer Miguna Miguna, urging him to be humble and calm in order to return to Kenya.

Waiguru noted that Canadians, like Miguna, need passports to enter the country, and that humility was key in ensuring that Miguna won the hearts of President Uhuru and Raila Odinga.

"It costs you nothing to be humble and return home. How would you enter someone's homestead when you keep insulting them daily and you have also refused to obtain a passport?" Waiguru wondered.

She emphasized that it's about time Miguna manned up and approached his situation with civility and logic, rather than mere yapping and addressing Odinga and Uhuru with contempt and dislike.

Waiguru criticized Miguna for spewing reckless and silly remarks, which would only worsen his already hopeless situation to return home.

She pointed out that it is indeed true and acceptable in the constitution that citizens of Kenya have their inalienable right to return to their country at whatever time, but Miguna's case is exceptional due to his seemingly pigheaded nature and incorrigible mentality.
