On January 13, 2020, Bandari FC made a significant change in their coaching staff, sacking coach Bernard Mwalala and appointing former Harambee Stars tactician Twahir Muhiddin as the caretaker coach.
According to a statement released by the club's chairman, Musa Hassan, the decision to sack Mwalala was made due to the team's poor performance in recent matches.
Under Mwalala's leadership, the team had achieved some success, including winning the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup in 2018 and earning a direct ticket to the CAF Confederation Cup.
However, the team's performance has been dismal this season, with their latest loss being a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Tusker FC on Sunday.
As of the time of the change, the team was ranked 11th on the log with 18 points from 16 matches.
