Khaligraph Jones Crowned Africa's Best Hip Hop Act at Soundcity MVP Awards

On January 11, 2020, Kenyan rapper Khaligraph Jones made history by being crowned Africa's Best Hip Hop Act at the Soundcity MVP Awards in Lagos, Nigeria.

The prestigious award was a testament to Khaligraph's hard work and dedication to his craft, as he beat out notable artists from across the continent, including Falz from Nigeria, Kwesta from South Africa, and Sarkodie from Ghana.

Expressing his gratitude to his fans, Khaligraph took to social media to share the good news and thank them for their unwavering support.

"Thank you so Much fam, biggest achievement of my career, never give up on your dream no matter what some may people will say about it and about You. stay Hungry and God will always come through…. #respecttheogs," he wrote on Instagram.

While Khaligraph's win was a highlight of the evening, other notable East African artists, including Otile Brown and DJ Creme De La Creme, were also nominated for various categories, although they did not take home awards.

Notably, Tanzania's Diamond Platnumz had the highest number of nominations (four) but unfortunately lost in all categories.

The Soundcity MVP Awards Festival is an annual event presented by Soundcity TV, where winners are chosen by a select committee of industry stakeholders and viewers through the #TheMVPs' website.
