On Saturday night, a heinous crime shook the quiet village of Burani, where 84-year-old Tsokoe Mwamandano, a father of 18, fell victim to a brutal attack at his home.
According to eyewitnesses, around 10 assailants, armed with machetes, stormed Mwamandano's residence at approximately 9pm, leaving him slashed to death.
Police and family members have confirmed that the attackers did not steal anything from the scene, fueling speculation that the motive behind the killing was rooted in witchcraft, a common practice where the elderly are targeted.
"We collected his dismembered body. He had been slashed several times," Mwijaka Kusema, the deceased's younger brother, recounted the gruesome scene.
As the police continue their investigation, they have yet to apprehend the suspects, leaving the community in a state of shock and uncertainty.
