Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) has welcomed two new clubs to its National League roster: Rift Valley Prisons and Kenya Forest Service (KSF).
Formerly known as Kenya Forest Rangers, KSF was disbanded in 2014 due to financial constraints, but it's making a comeback this year.
"We are indebted to the new management for the support and our hope is to return the favour by performing well in the league," said KSF coach Wachira Gatuiria.
Published on January 13, 2020, the KVF league season is set to begin next month, with seven women's teams competing for the title.
However, the league's secretary general, Kasuja Onyonyi, has expressed concerns about the dwindling number of women's clubs, which he believes will make the league less competitive.
"Last year there were eight clubs in the league, and now we have only seven. This is a worrying trend that could continue in the future," Onyonyi said.
Onyonyi, who is also the manager of Kenya Pipeline, added that the issue of playing home and away matches could make matters worse for self-sponsored teams.
