Kenyan music is on the rise, and Kamene and Kibe are at the forefront of this new wave. Their song Nyoka Ya Shaba, released in January 2020, has taken the country by storm, topping the charts for two consecutive days.
Featuring a star-studded lineup, including Xtian Dela, Exray, Magix, Timmy Tdat, Jua Cali, Kristoff, and Harry Craze, the song was produced by Magix Enga, who also dropped a verse in the track. The music video, shot at Mialle Lounge, was a day's work and was captured by Kiss100.
According to Xtian Dela, the recording day was 'magical,' with the artists creating the song from scratch. 'We approached the Beat King, Magix Enga, who believed in the project and gave us more ideas on the song,' Xtian said.
During the video shoot, Kamene expressed her love for the gengetone vibe, which has been a topic of discussion in Kenyan music. 'The time for Kenyan music is now,' she said.
With over 200,000 views in just two days, Nyoka Ya Shaba is the song on everyone's Instagram Story. The comment section on YouTube is filled with Kenyans in the diaspora enjoying this new wave.
