Former Jubilee Vice-Chair David Murathe has hailed Interior CS Fred Matiang'i as the right dose to handle Deputy President William Ruto and his Tanga Tanga group of politicians.
Speaking on K24 Punchline on Sunday, January 12, Murathe revealed that Matiang'i is playing a key role in the government to ensure it is stable and delivers to the people.
“Matiang’i is ensuring stability by handling the Tanga Tanga goons well,” Murathe said.
According to Murathe, Matiang'i would do well to serve in a leadership capacity in the country, citing his firmness and ability to get things done.
“I think Matiang’i fits the bill. I think he is very firm, and Kenyans needed a Michuki, and Kenyans needed a Michuki. He is a no-nonsense man who does his work the way it’s supposed to be done and this is what this country has been lacking,” Murathe stated.
However, Murathe dismissed the option of having both Matiang'i and ODM leader Raila Odinga on the same team in 2022, saying it was inconceivable in the country’s political atmosphere.
“Has Raila said that he is running? Is it possible for two people to run for the presidency in the country? Currently, Matiang’i is the de facto prime minister. He is the person that sits with the ministers every Tuesday morning, and then on Wednesdays, the PS and accounting officers have their meetings with Kibicho and then on Thursday, a full cabinet meeting he chairs,” Murathe explained.
