On a tragic Saturday afternoon, January 11, 2020, a 29-year-old man, John Muia, committed a heinous crime in Kilala Location, Makueni Sub-county.
According to the Sub-county Police Commander, Timothy Maina, Muia grabbed his 1.5-year-old son, Justus Muuo, by the leg and smashed him on the ground, seriously injuring the child.
Justus was rushed to the Makueni County Referral Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival, leaving behind a devastated family.
Tragically, Muia's actions did not end there. He later hanged himself on a tree using a Leso in his employer's farm in the locality.
The bodies were taken to the Makueni County Hospital mortuary as police commenced investigations into the shocking incident.
As reported by KNA, the incident occurred after a quarrel between Muia and his wife, Purity Mutheu, 21.
“The man reportedly got agitated after a quarrel with his wife, Purity Mutheu, 21, and he assaulted the child, seriously injuring him,” said Maina.
