As the world grapples with the complexities of leadership, Kenya is providing a stark reminder of the importance of putting country over party. In a nation where idealism often gives way to egomania, the contrast between those who prioritize their personal interests and those who put the country's needs first is striking.

At the national level, President Uhuru Kenyatta has taken a bold step by extending a hand of peace and reconciliation to his former rival and opposition leader Raila Odinga. The latter's acceptance of this outstretched hand has set the tone for a new era in national politics, where the national interest triumphs over the personal or partisan.

The Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) is a testament to this shift, with an independent commission working to listen to the challenges of the average Kenyan and propose solutions to fix these problems. Jubilee Party and Orange Democratic Movement legislators are working together to achieve the change Kenya desperately needs.

However, in stark contrast, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko's actions have been a nightmare. His decision to evade justice by fleeing from the police, followed by his arrest and subsequent bail request, has raised questions about his assets. The appointment of a deputy in contempt of court orders has only added to the chaos.

As Kenya navigates this complex landscape, one thing is clear: the governor of Nairobi puts himself over party, county, or country. His preoccupation is with himself and clinging to power at any cost. Woe unto the nation whose leaders act in such despicable ways!

Fortunately, there are also other developments in our nation happening simultaneously. If we look at the national level, we can see politicians of all sides of the political spectrum who are doing what is right and good for the future of the country.
