Naivasha flower farm workers are living in fear following the gruesome discovery of a colleague's body buried in a shallow grave.
The body of Nancy Wangui, who went missing on New Year's Day, was found near Karagita estate, with one leg and one eye missing.
According to her brother Antony Mburu, Nancy left for work at 4:30 am on January 1st, but failed to return in the evening, prompting her family to report her missing to the police.
"We sensed that something was wrong and reported the matter to the police as we mounted a fruitless search for her," Antony Mburu said.
On Thursday evening, police and members of the public exhumed the body and took it to the area mortuary for examination.
Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru confirmed the incident, stating that it was being treated as murder, although no suspect had been arrested.
"A report was made over a missing woman a week ago and the body has been discovered buried in a shallow grave and our officers are following it up," Waweru said.
Residents have expressed concern over the safety of flower farm workers, who often report to work at odd hours and are exposed to attacks.
