On Friday evening, detectives arrested a 33-year-old man linked to the murder of Joan Wairimu, whose body was discovered at Timboroa forest in December 2016.
David Njenga, alias Daudi, was apprehended in his hideouts at Makutano area in Koibatek Sub County, Rift Valley Region.
According to Rift Valley Regional Criminal Investigating Officer Festus Malinge, Njenga was a wanted suspect in Wairimu's murder, which occurred after she went missing from her business premise in Nakuru town.
Wairimu's body was found with visible injuries on the head and bruises on both hands, and preliminary investigations revealed that Njenga and his brother Peter Kibe brutally murdered her.
Investigations also revealed that Njenga and his brother might have been hired to kill Wairimu, and that Njenga was mentioned by Kibe during the investigation process, leading to his arrest.
Wairimu was a resident of Kiratina area, Nakuru Town East, and owned a business shop within Nakuru town where she was picked by her assailants.
Njenga is currently being probed at Nakuru Police Station and will be arraigned in court today.
