On January 10, 2020, Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro and other Tanga Tanga politicians were teargassed at Kilimani Police Station while demanding the release of Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria.

According to Nyoro, the group's ordeal was a result of their support for Deputy President William Ruto.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i and his Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho were accused of targeting politicians perceived to be working closely with the DP.

“Haina noma. Others have had their turn. It’s our turn. Even our tormentors will have their turn. Na dunia itaendelea tu,” Nyoro posted on Facebook, hinting that those persecuting them would eventually face their own suffering.
