On a typical shopping trip, a husband decided to surprise his wife by buying tampons, anticipating her period was 'coming up'. He claimed he had an idea when her period was due, having lived with her for eight years.

However, his thoughtful gesture backfired when his wife saw the tampons and became upset, calling him 'weird' and 'creepy' for doing it on his own.

Despite the backlash, many women came to his defence, saying they would be 'eternally grateful' for such a thoughtful gesture.

One woman wrote, 'What the hell - I'd be super appreciative. Especially since I'm the type to wait last minute to buy pads/tampons. Why that would be weird and creepy is beyond me...'

Another woman added, 'As a woman, I would be blown away and really impressed by this gesture. I'm guessing she grew up in a household where any men in the house were grossed out by the sight of tampons or pads and never touched them so she probably thinks that behaviour is normal even though it's really not.'

A third woman praised the husband, saying, 'You, sir, are a knight in armour and I'd be eternally grateful if my husband did this. Running out of tampons SUCKS, and for you to not only notice, but grab more? That's parade-worthy, medal of honour, peace prize gesture.'

Published on January 12, 2020, the story sparked a debate on social media, with many women defending the husband's actions.
