Barcelona's Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez will undergo another knee operation on Sunday, the club announced.

The 32-year-old has been a key player for Barcelona this season, making 23 appearances and scoring 14 goals, including 11 in the league and three in the Champions League.

He also leads La Liga with seven assists and has been instrumental in Barcelona's top spot in the league and their progress in the Champions League.

However, Suarez's latest injury has raised concerns about his fitness and availability for the team's upcoming matches.

According to Barcelona, the surgery is for an 'injury to the external meniscus of the right knee', and the club will make a new medical statement once the intervention is over.

It will not be Suarez's first knee operation, as he underwent a similar procedure in May 2014 and again last May, when he missed the last two league games and the Spanish cup final to recover in time for the Copa America in Brazil.

Despite his injury, Suarez played on Thursday in Barcelona's Spanish Super Cup semifinal against Atletico Madrid in Jeddah, which they lost.

Barcelona top La Liga and face Napoli in the round of 16 of the Champions League.
