On January 11, 2020, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria was released from Kilimani police station on a Sh20, 000 cash bail.

He was arrested the previous day by officers from the DCI Special Service Unit for allegedly assaulting Joyce Wanja at Royal Media Services studios.

Despite a court order for his release on a Sh50, 000 cash bail, Kuria spent the night in police custody.

However, he was released on a lower bail amount, and is due to appear in court on January 13, 2020.
