On January 7, 2020, a photo of a wooden passenger staircase being used to board a plane went viral on social media, sparking speculation that Kenya Airways (KQ) was forced to be 'creative' due to financial problems.
However, KQ responded quickly to the allegations, stating that the aircraft in the photo did not belong to them.
‘We respectfully confirm that this is not an aircraft belonging to or operated by Kenya Airways,’ KQ said in a statement.
Further investigation revealed that the original image was photo-shopped from a Cameroonian airport, where a plane belonging to Camair-Co was captured.
