Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has been at the center of controversy after making a series of inflammatory remarks on Twitter.

On January 11, 2020, the vocal legislator got into a heated exchange with Nairobi County Women Representative Esther Passaris and Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) boss Ezekiel Mutua.

Passaris had come to the defense of Kandara MP Alice Wahome, who had been criticized by Owino for allegedly disrespecting ODM leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

According to Owino, Wahome must respect the two leaders or face the consequences, which he described as shaving every part of her body that has hair.

Passaris quickly responded, asking Owino to pull down the tweet, citing that it was an act of defilement to shave a woman without her consent.

However, before the dust had settled, Owino had already started another controversy, this time targeting Mutua.

He accused Mutua of sleeping with university students everywhere, in response to Mutua's criticism of Owino's earlier statement.

Mutua has yet to respond to the allegations, but netizens have been quick to react, with some calling for Owino to be held accountable for his actions.
