On Saturday morning, a bodaboda rider's reckless driving left a pedestrian fighting for his life on Nairobi's Kenyatta Avenue.
The rider, who was speeding, knocked down the pedestrian at a zebra crossing, then fled the scene without stopping to help the victim.
Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with the pedestrian bleeding profusely and writhing in pain.
Fortunately, an ambulance from Morning Star Medical Centre responded quickly and administered first aid to the victim.
The pedestrian suffered two broken legs, injuries to his right arm, head, and bruises on his face.
According to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), deaths caused by motorcycles on Kenya roads rose by nearly a third in 2019 compared to 2018.
Statistics released in December 2019 indicate that at least 724 people were killed in motorcycle-related accidents in 2019, a 23 percent increase from 2018.
