On January 10, 2020, a caretaker at St Joseph Catholic Church in Kahawa Sukari, Kiambu county, reported to work to find a bag left under a flower bed within the compound.

According to a police report, the caretaker, Samuel Mwangangi, opened the bag and found two sealed speakers, an unknown chemical substance in a bottle of drinking water, a doom container attached to the speakers with a zero tape, and leaflets written in both English and Arabic languages.

The leaflets allegedly threatened the European priest of the church.

Police commander Ali Nuno led detectives to the scene, where they found no cause for alarm.

Officers from the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit collected the exhibit for further analysis.
