On January 10, 2020, Jubilee MP Maina Kamanda assured ODM leader Raila Odinga that Central Kenya would support the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.

Speaking at the first county BBI consultative forum hosted by Governor James Ongwae at Kisii Stadium, Kamanda stated that Central Kenya was fully behind the BBI report.

“The Central Kenya region is fully supporting the BBI report and nothing can change their stand,” Kamanda remarked.

He also accused Deputy President William Ruto of trying to buy Mt Kenya leaders’ support by dishing out large amounts of money.

“Don’t panic over the money that has been poured in the region. The same tactic was used in Kibra but did not work,” Kamanda said.

During the event, ODM leader Raila Odinga urged Kenyans to embrace the BBI, terming it as the only way to get them out of the current problems facing the country.

“Kenya is embarking on a new journey. I am confident that we will get to our destination. We have to unite as one people and one Kenya. That is the call that we are carrying from here,” Odinga remarked.
