Ms Daisy Mbathe Mbaluka, a Mathematics and Kiswahili teacher at Ndooni Primary School, was brutally murdered in Kitui County, leaving the community in shock.

According to investigators, the killing had nothing to do with poor exam results, as initially suspected. Instead, it appears to be a well-organized plot to eliminate the teacher.

Kitui East Sub-county police commander Consaga Malasi confirmed that the police are pursuing a lead that the teacher was involved in crime, including extortion and robbery.

Locals alleged that Mbaluka, in cahoots with armed men, ran an extortion and robbery ring that terrorized the community, leaving some people maimed.

One of the alleged victims, Mutiso Mulwa, is currently admitted at Kenyatta National Hospital in critical condition, after he was allegedly brutalized by Mbaluka and two other men at her home.

Malasi said that the police had sought help from homicide officers in Nairobi and crime experts to unravel the motive behind the teacher's brutal killing.

Two men were arraigned at Kitui Law Courts in connection with the killing, but the police are still investigating the case.
