On January 7, 2020, a dramatic incident unfolded at the Mikindani Medical Centre in Jomvu, Mombasa, when a 21-year-old woman allegedly stole a baby from his mother.

According to Jomvu deputy commander Jashon Polloh, the suspect, Amina Juma, disappeared with the baby 'knowingly.'

On the day of the incident, Baby Brown Njuguna was stolen from his mother Victoria Zubeida, 25, while she was being discharged from the hospital.

Ms Zubeida recounted the events, saying, 'I found her at the maternity ward. She heard all the conversations I had with the nurse. When I was discharged, she offered to help me with the baby. On reaching Kijiweni matatu stage, she reminded me about the drugs I had left at the facility, so I left her with the baby.'

However, upon her return, the woman had disappeared, leaving Ms Zubeida frantic and searching for her baby.

Police have since arrested Amina Juma and will charge her with the offence of child theft on Monday.
