On January 10, 2020, the world lost a talented journalist, Anjlee Gadhvi, who succumbed to hepatocellular carcinoma, a type of liver cancer, at the Aga Khan hospital.

Liver cancer begins in the cells of the liver and can be caused by various factors, including chronic infection with HBV or HCV, cirrhosis, and exposure to aflatoxins.

According to the Mayo Clinic, other risk factors include diabetes, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, and excessive alcohol consumption.

Some common symptoms of liver cancer include weight loss, appetite loss, abdominal pain, vomiting, fatigue, and abdominal swelling.
