As of March, coffin sellers in Zambia's capital, Lusaka, will no longer be allowed to operate outside the University Teaching Hospital (UTH), according to a January 10, 2020 report by the Daily Mail.
Mayor Miles Sampa has issued an ultimatum to the traders, warning that they will be relocated to graveyards if they fail to move.
The coffin sellers had set up shops outside the hospital, which houses a mortuary, prompting complaints from patients and their relatives.
According to Mayor Sampa, the presence of coffin sellers is depressing patients and hindering their recovery.
