Kenya: Police Officer Arrested Over Kin's Murder

On January 2, a brutal murder shook Mweganda village, Ajuki, in Tigania Central, Kenya. A woman was struck several times with a blunt object inside her house, leaving her lifeless.

According to Meru County police boss Patrick Lumumba, the suspect, John Bosco Mungathia, a police officer attached to Bubisa Police Station in Marsabit, was arrested after evidence linked him to the crime scene.

The motive behind the murder was a property dispute within the family. The police boss revealed that the family was embroiled in a tussle over property, which ultimately led to the tragic event.

Mr. Lumumba confirmed that the suspect will be arraigned and charged with murder. The victim's body was moved to Meru Level Five Hospital mortuary.
