On January 10, 2020, Kenya lost a beloved news anchor, Anjlee Gadvi, who succumbed to liver cancer at the Aga Khan Hospital.
Ms. Gadvi's death was confirmed by Peter Opondo, the head of K24, in a heartfelt tribute on social media.
"Oh my friend @AnjleeGadhvi You fought that cancer beast with all your might. You did it for your kids, husband. Never lost hope. You always smiled through the pain & insisted on coming to work even at your weakest points. We believed you were winning... until now! RIP my friend." - Peter Opondo (@PeterOpondo) January 10, 2020
Ms. Gadvi was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2013 but chose to keep her condition private until 2015, when she had exhausted all treatment options and her family and friends had raised funds to support her care.
Just last August, she shared an update on her treatment in India, where she underwent CyberKnife therapy, a radiation treatment for cancer.
