On a chilly December morning, Kakamega County was abuzz with excitement as the Barasa Foundation Inter-Academy Games kicked off at Bulimbo primary school grounds in Matungu constituency.

The event, sponsored by Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Managing Director Fernandes Barasa, brought together over 3,000 fans, including politicians, opinion leaders, and students, to witness the talents of the region's youth.

Barasa, accompanied by his wife Janet, who serves as the foundation's chairman, emphasized the importance of harnessing and developing the County's immense sports and other talents.

He drew inspiration from successful sports personalities such as Victor Wanyama and MacDonald Mariga, who he said were products of positively harnessed talents.

Winners in various categories were awarded gold, silver, and bronze trophies, and the event has been hailed as a resounding success.

Barasa's foundation has been recognized for its innovative ideas, including the Motorbike program, which has benefited over 400 youths from various constituencies in Kakamega County.

As the County looks to the future, Barasa's gesture has sparked a call to action, with leaders and locals urging politicians and wealthy individuals to emulate his example and support the development of the region's youth.
