January 10, 2020 - Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane will be sidelined until April after suffering a hamstring injury during a Premier League match against Southampton on New Year's Day.

Kane, who has netted 27 goals for Spurs and England this season, will undergo surgery to repair a ruptured tendon in his left hamstring, according to a statement from the Premier League club.

"Following ongoing assessment by our medical staff over the past week, we can confirm that Harry Kane will undergo surgery to repair a ruptured tendon in his left hamstring," Spurs said.

The decision to undergo surgery is not expected to impact the time frame that the England captain will be sidelined, with the expectation that he will return to training in April.

As a result, Kane will miss Spurs' Champions League last-16 clash with RB Leipzig and England's Euro 2020 warm-up games against Italy and Denmark.

Despite being injury-free this season, Kane has had two lengthy layoffs last season due to ankle ligament injuries.
