On January 10, 2020, a 10-day search for a missing flower farm worker came to a devastating end in Naivasha. The body of Nancy Wangui, a mother of three, was discovered buried in a shallow grave in Karagita estate, just a few meters off the Moi South Lake Road.

Wangui, who was reported missing on New Year's Day after leaving her house at 4:30 am to report to work, was found to be missing a leg and an eye. Her brother, Anthony Mburu, said she left for work as usual but failed to return in the evening, prompting a frantic search by the family and police.

Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru confirmed the incident, stating that the police were treating it as murder. "A report was made over a missing woman a week ago and the body has been found... our officers are following it up," he said.

Community elder Mohammed Were criticized the odd hours flower farm workers report for duty, saying they are exposed to attacks. "This road is in pathetic condition, making it hard for the workers to get any means of safe transport," he said.

Wangui's brother, Stephen Mburu, expressed the family's pain and shock at the discovery of her body. "It's painful that my sister had to die like this. We hope those responsible will be arrested," he said.
