On February 14, 2020, Kenyan men will celebrate Valentine's Day in a unique way. Instead of showering their loved ones with gifts and affection, they will gather for a Men's Conference.

The event, which has sparked controversy, aims to redefine the role of men in society. According to Ezekiel Mutua, the CEO of the Kenya Film Classification Board, the conference will focus on teaching men how to love and provide for their families.

Speaking at the event, Mutua emphasized the need to 'rescue men' and guide them to be men in their homes and areas of influence. He also highlighted the importance of recognizing the boy child in Kenya, which he believes has been neglected in favor of Western culture.

The conference, which will be moderated by Albert Kochei, a former Elgeyo Marakwet county assembly speaker, will feature key public figures, businessmen, and church leaders. The theme of the day will be 'The role and Place of Man in Society.'

It is worth noting that the event has been met with criticism, with some accusing the organizers of seeking to abolish Valentine's Day. However, Mutua has expressed his willingness to accept the proposal and issue a comprehensive statement on the way forward after thorough consultations.
