January 10, 2020, marked a significant step in Twitter's efforts to combat abuse and harassment on its network. The social media giant announced a new feature that allows users to determine who can reply to their tweets.

As part of this initiative, users will have four options to choose from when posting a message: allowing anyone to reply, limiting replies to their followers, restricting replies to people mentioned in the tweet, or blocking replies altogether.

According to Twitter's director of product management, Suzanne Xie, the new feature is designed to give users more control over their conversations. The feature, which was announced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2020 in Las Vegas, is an effort to limit harassment and other types of unhealthy interactions between users.

Twitter has been working to address this issue for years, and this new feature is a step in that direction. The company has also introduced other features, such as the option to hide specific replies to tweets, to help users combat abuse on the service.
