On December 8, 2019, a heated exchange between Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria and female political commentator Joyce Wanja, alias Mwari Wawagichûngûmwa, took place on Inooro TV's Kiririmbi show.

According to Wanja, Kuria attacked her after she brought up his offensive remarks made during a fundraiser in Kiambu county a week earlier.

Wanja, who was a guest on the show along with Kuria, claimed that she reminded him of his Kiambu speech, which she deemed offensive, and begged for help from police.

Wanja alleged that Kuria's remarks were not suitable for a show where children were present, and that's why she confronted him.

“Aliongea maneno haikuwa inaambatana na event tena aliongea yenye haifai kuongelewa mbele ya watoto. Vile nilimaliza kumwambia hivyo ndio aliamka akanipiga ngumi nikaanguka nikasaidiwa na wenzangu,” Wanja added.

Following the incident, Kuria was arrested on Friday morning at Westlands and is currently being detained at Kilimani Police station.
