January 10, 2020, marked a special day in Yaoundé, Cameroon, as President Paul Biya held an official event to wish citizens Happy New Year.

Parliamentarians, mayors, ministers, and senior government officials attended the function, which was held at the president's residence and televised live on all stations.

At the end of the ceremony, officials from the executive, judiciary, disciplined forces, parliament, and Senate queued to shake the President's hand and receive their New Year wish.

Meanwhile, the highways of Yaoundé are littered with mangoes that fall off trees alongside the roads. While citizens are free to eat the mangoes once they fall, they are discouraged from throwing stones at the trees to harvest them, as this can result in arrest.

Cameroon is currently experiencing the Harmattan season, the driest season of the year, characterized by extremely cold evenings, nights, and mornings, with temperatures shooting up to around 30 degrees during the day.
