On January 10, 2020, Kilimani OCPD Lucas Oigara confirmed that Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria had been arrested in Westlands and was being held at the Kilimani Police Station.
The police had prepared a file on the MP's case, which would be charged in court with assault and inflicting bodily harm on his victim.
According to Joyce Wanja, she was assaulted by Moses Kuria on December 8, 2020, at the Royal Media Services premises during a show she was invited to discuss the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
She had asked Moses Kuria to retract some of the statements he had made about women at a function to help orphans in Kiambu the previous week.
He had allegedly accused the women of wearing smelly panties and said most of the women were whores who could be bedded anywhere without shame.
Wanja recorded a statement with the police, with a P3 form showing how she was assaulted, but Moses Kuria had not been arrested or summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) until January 10, 2020.
