On Monday, a tragic incident shook the community of Kitui when a science teacher, Daisy Mbaluka, was killed by irate parents in one of the most heinous murders in recent history.

According to eyewitnesses, Mbaluka, a teacher at Ndooni Primary School, was taking her two daughters to St Angela's Secondary School on two motorbikes when they were ambushed by an angry mob. The attackers struck her with a blunt object on the head before dousing her body with petrol and setting it ablaze.

Fortunately, Mbaluka's daughters managed to escape to a nearby homestead, where they were rescued.

The motive behind the murder remains unclear, but sources close to the investigation suggest that a section of the community had been harboring a deep-seated grudge against the teacher. Headteacher Dickson Musya revealed that Mbaluka had been barred from some shops in the area, fueling speculation about the reasons behind the attack.

However, Kitui East Police Commander Consaga Malasi has refuted claims that the teacher's murder was linked to poor KCPE performance, stating that the killing was purely a criminal act.

Two parents, Kyalo Muli and Wambua Mwangagi, have been arrested and charged with the gruesome murder. The Teachers Service Commission has since withdrawn six teachers from the school and warned that it will not send another teacher until the security of teachers can be assured.
