Kenyan Premier League clubs are facing a bleak future, with the league's chairman, Ambrose Rachier, warning that there is no prospect of securing a new sponsor this season.

The league has been without a title sponsor since SportPesa exited in August last year, and Rachier revealed that prospective sponsors are offering little in terms of cash due to the league's low visibility.

“The future of Kenya Premier League is very bleak and the current situation may not change soon. There is no prospect at all of the league getting a sponsor this season. Those who came shied off because of broadcast issues since our matches are not aired live on international platforms. It's sad but that's where we are now,” Rachier told Nation Sport on Thursday.

As a result, the league has relocated from Westlands to smaller offices along Lenana road in a bid to cut costs, and Rachier has also revealed that his club, Gor Mahia, has not received their cash award for winning the KPL title last season.

However, there is some good news for Gor Mahia fans, with Rachier revealing that the club will unveil a new sponsor before the end of this month.
