Heartbreak and Grief: Mukami Pens Touching Letter to Raburu and Wife Marya

Published on January 10, 2020

Willis Raburu and his wife Marya Prude are mourning the loss of their unborn child, a stillbirth that has left the couple reeling.

As they grieve, Mukami, the wife of nominated senator Isaac Mwaura, has reached out with a touching letter of condolence, offering words of comfort and support to the couple.

Her letter, titled 'Dear Marya Prude,' is a heartfelt expression of her own experience of losing two of their triplets after birth in 2017.

'Dear Marya, Allow me to call you Mama Adana,' Mukami writes. 'I begin by acknowledging your baby and her presence in your life; The gift of having a life growing within you is beautiful and sacred and for that, you will always be a mother.'

Mukami's letter is a powerful reminder that grief is a personal and isolating experience, but one that can be eased by the support of loved ones and the comfort of faith.

'You are scared of anything and everything,' she writes. 'I am hoping my words today will be a tiny drop of comfort to your pain.'

As Mukami shares her own story of loss and grief, she offers words of encouragement and hope to Marya and Willis, reminding them that they are not alone in their pain.

'Dear Mama Adana, cry, shed those painful tears, scream, shout, do not hide your pain,' she writes. 'The pain is real and so is the heartache.'

With her letter, Mukami has offered a beacon of hope and comfort to the Raburu family, reminding them that they are not alone in their grief and that there is always a way forward, even in the darkest of times.
