This archive report was first published on 9 January 2020.

On January 1, 2020, a life coach, Amisi, reached out to his client, Josphat, with a seemingly friendly message, wishing him a Happy New Year. However, this was not the first time they had interacted since their last session in August 2019.

According to Josphat, their last session was marred by a heated argument, during which Amisi criticized his client's lack of commitment to achieving his investment goals. Josphat felt belittled and told Amisi that he sounded more like a policeman than a coach.

Fast forward to early January 2020, when Josphat stumbled upon an auction notice for a property belonging to someone with the same name as his life coach, Amisi. He initially thought it was a coincidence, but the discovery sparked a series of events that would lead to an unexpected request from Amisi.

On January 2, 2020, Amisi called Josphat, asking to meet up to discuss their past issues. Josphat agreed, and they met for coffee two days later. During their conversation, Amisi revealed that he was facing financial difficulties and needed a loan to save his house from auctioneers. He claimed to have borrowed Sh10 million to start a small business, which had been affected by the economic downturn.

Josphat was shocked by Amisi's request and politely declined, citing that he had already reached his guarantors' limit. The incident left Josphat stunned, wondering why Amisi would ask for a loan after their bitter fallout.
