Colin Weir, the UK's biggest jackpot winner, will be laid to rest next week after a short illness. He won Sh21.3 billion with his ex-wife Christine in 2011.

On December 27, 2019, Colin Weir, 71, passed away after a short illness. Born in Largs, Ayrshire, he was a devoted father of two and a lifelong fan of Partick Thistle.

Colin's love for Partick Thistle was unmatched, and he had been a season ticket holder since he was a boy. He spent many hours at Firhill, the club's home ground, and even helped refurbish Largs Thistle's ground.

His generosity extended beyond his love for football. He gave over £1 million to Partick Thistle to set up a youth academy and clear debts. His philanthropic efforts earned him a special place in the hearts of the Partick Thistle community.

Colin's funeral service will take place at Partick Burgh Hall on January 14, 2020, at 11:15 am. The cortege will stop at Firhill at 10:30 am for a final visit to his beloved Partick Thistle. A private cremation will follow.

Family flowers are requested, but donations can be made in lieu to the Partick Thistle Charitable Trust. Colin's legacy will live on through his love for the club and his generosity to the community.
