On January 9, 2020, the Central Depository and Settlement Corporation announced the appointment of Nkoregamba Mwebesa as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective February 10, 2020.
Mwebesa brings over 25 years of experience in the financial services sector across East Africa, having worked in various senior roles.
Before joining CDSC, Mwebesa served as the Managing Director of Stanlib Kenya Limited from 2016, and previously held the position of Chief Executive of SBG Securities Limited.
He has been instrumental in several landmark transactions, including the Stanlib Fahari I-Reit Initial Public Offer on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (2015), the Tanzania Breweries Limited Public offer, and the UMEME initial public offering on the Uganda Securities Exchange.
Notably, Mwebesa also served as the CEO of the Nairobi Securities Exchange from 2005 to 2008, where he led the implementation of the Automated Trading System and oversaw 12 new equity listings, including KENGEN and Safaricom.
He replaces Mrs. Rose Mambo, who had been at the helm for 12 years and retired in September 2019. Hilda Njeru has been leading the corporation on an interim basis since October 2019 and will continue until Mwebesa assumes office in February.
